Marie-France Garon, B.A., D.O.

I have always been interested in movement. When I was very young, I performed my first choreographies at school, then they took place on the ice, and at the Place des arts … Subsequently, I began to write about dance, to talk about it on the radio and study it at Concordia University. Now I am exploring movement through Pilates, Yoga, Feldenkrais, Qi Gong, Body-Mind Centering, and Osteopathy. Recently, I took courses at the naturopathic training institute, in order to deepen my knowledge about nutrition.

I graduated from the Academy of Osteopathy of Montreal, in the full-time program (with master paper: Osteopathic approach to hypothyroidism). I am also certified as a Kinesio Taping, Neuro Kinetic Therapy and lymphatic drainage therapist, Vodder method. I also took post-graduate training in pediatrics, posturology, integrated respiratory rehabilitation and concussion treatment.

In Pilates, I am certified by the STOTT and Ann McMillan Pilates methods. For several years, I have been teaching various Pilates courses on the floor, with various accessories (Swiss ball, Foam roll, elastic band, etc.). I have also followed several post-graduate training courses (yogalates, functional assessment, back pain, fragile necks) The courses I offer, in groups or in private, can be adapted according to individual needs, whether for pregnant women or for people who are in rehabilitation following an accident or postural problems. In addition to the regular classes, I also gave some specific workshops on Abs and back health. I also have a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Concordia University, with a emphasis in Contemporary Dance.

One of my goals is to share my knowledge and bring people to a better understanding of their human biomechanics, in search of a Corpore Sano, to quote the poet Juvénal.

Practicing the profession of osteopath or Pilates instructor requires staying abreast of the latest knowledge on health and movement.

Even though the body has not evolved for centuries, our understanding has grown considerably.

My philosophy

For those who have worked with me before, I am not a military type, but rather an intuitive type. I try to establish a dialogue in order to let the information emerge in a more spontaneous way. Still working with a framework, it is rather flexible and can be modified according to needs, feelings and discoveries. It is always an excursion that varies from person to person. Being in contact with your body, whether in performance, in curiosity or in necessity, it is always an encounter with the whole being in its physical but also psychic dimension.

I am a member of the Association des osteopathes RITMA # 2535 and the Association des naturothérapeutes du Québec #NA-4780.
